UNION SQUARE

Location: Union Square, New York

Year completed: 2019

General Contractor:  Jim Vallouch

Scope: Design concept, space planning, finish & furniture selection, construction drawings, project management

One of our very first projects as Proem, this was a unique opportunity to work on a penthouse apartment in Union Square, Manhattan. The building was a former button factory in the Flatiron neighborhood with visible pipes, exposed brick, and awkwardly shaped rooms that still retained a lot of the factory’s prewar charm. We had a lot of architectural features to work with in the 2700 square foot apartment, including oversized windows with stunning views of the Empire State Building,12.5 foot high ceilings, skylights throughout, and a 750 square ft rooftop terrace. The project scope included a full renovation of the kitchen and three bathrooms, new flooring and paint throughout, and a redesign of the wood burning fireplace. Built-in storage, cosmetic updates and new furnishings were added to make the apartment work for the clients.
